Soulforce

One of the lights in the darkness for LGBT people is a group called Soulforce, an organization founded by Rev. Mel White, a former speechwriter for evangelical preachers who eventually came to understand that the Bible in no way condemns loving relationships between same-sex couples.

Since then, Rev. White founded Soulforce as an organization in the tradition of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr, working through nonviolence to speak truth to power and gradually break down structures and attitudes of prejudice and hate.

Most fundamentally, the work of Soulforce and other groups like it is really just educating people about what the Bible actually says. As it turns out, scriptural scholarship shows that the Bible in fact has nothing at all to say against what we know today as loving relationships between same-sex couples. This position is strongly argued in this PDF that's available free from Soulforce.

I hope this site is helpful for anyone who may not have had the opportunity yet to read more about what the Bible really says -- perhaps reading it will help either you or someone else through you to know the authentic good news that the Word of God has the power to speak to us today.

Peace and good wishes,
P. Chuck
